Moreover, it should be noted that the University of Nicosia was the first in the world to accept bitcoin for tuition fees, the first in the world to issue credentials on the Bitcoin blockchain and the first in the world to offer a postgraduate master’s degree in Digital Currency & Blockchain Technology.

The Institute For the Future (IFF) is an interdisciplinary research Centre at the University of Nicosia (UNIC), aimed at advancing emerging technologies and contributing to their effective application in industry, government and education as well as evaluating their impact on society at large. Its mission is to educate leaders, develop knowledge and build communities to help society prepare for a future shaped by transformative technologies, such as distributed ledger technologies and state-of-the-art forecasting methodologies.
